Oklahoma Foreclosures

Oklahoma Foreclosures

The foreclosure numbers in the state of Oklahoma are not as bad as in some other states. They are not good by any stretch compared to numbers of a couple years ago and certainly if your home is one of the more than twelve hundred that entered into foreclosure in the month of December you are not terribly impressed. But as a whole, the foreclosure picture in Oklahoma is far better than it is in a lot of other states across this great nation.

The numbers here have remained surprisingly stable over the last few months with little change in the monthly percentages and the ranking remains about the same as one month turns into the next. Another nice fact is that the people that do the predictions do not expect that to change in any significant manner in Oklahoma. So as long as nothing else major comes along to kill the economy, the residents of Oklahoma are pretty much where they are going to be for a while as far as the numbers go.

Yes, the foreclosure does include mostly recent construction and a good amount of it is located near the economically hard hit major cities like Tulsa and Oklahoma City where retail has been particularly hard hit.

Most of the smaller cities and rural areas have felt a very minimal impact from the current state of foreclosures. This is due, in a large part to the fact that most of the land outside of the congested larger cities, has been family owned land and has been in families for generations. As a direct result of that, the land and other real estate, for the most part, has be mortgage free and so not effected by the current state of the market so the number have not fluctuated.
